TABAK chief calls on youth to take PMA exam

Kuta Sang-an, Pulacan, Labangan,ZDS- TABAK Chief, Maj Gen Romeo D. Lustestica on Monday announced that the Philippine Military Academy will hold an annual PMA Entrance Examination nationwide on August 29, 2010.

He is calling to all the youths who dream of becoming a regular officer of the Armed Forces of the Philippines to send their application to take the exam as early as possible.

"I am calling the youths, whether male or female, not to miss this opportunity," Lustestica said, adding that succcessful applicants will automatically become government scholars and will enjoy the benefits and privileges."

He also said, to be able to take the examination, applicants must possess the following qualifications: Natural born Filipino citizen, of good moral character and is physically fit, single and have never been married; with a height of 5?4" if male and 5?2" if female; must not be a day younger than 17 years old or not a day older than 22 years old on April 1, 2011, next year; and at least a high school graduate with an average of 85% or higher and must not have any administrative, civil nor criminal case filed against them.

The PMA offers full scholarships to successful applicants who qualify for cadetship in the Academy. Once they graduate, they will be conferred with a degree of Bachelor of Science.

During the course of their training, the cadets shall be receiving pay and allowances and are automatically entitled to an appointment to the regular force of the Armed Forces of the Philippines as Ensigns for the Philippine Navy or 2nd Lieutenants for Philippine Army and Philippine Airforce upon graduation.

Admission to PMA undergoes stringent process where an applicant is required to posses all the qualifications before he would be allowed to take the written examination.

When he qualifies, he will be notified to report to an examination center either in Luzon, Visayas, or Mindanao for the complete physical examination, which shall determine the fitness of the applicant in terms of his medical condition and physical readiness to undergo the training in the Academy. Successful applicants are expected to report to the Philippine Military Academy on April 1, 2011.

MGen Lustestica said that application forms are now available at Radio Stations DXBZ Radyo Bagting and RMN-DXPR and at PIA Regional Office IX respectively. Interested applicants can also download the application form from the PMA website, www.pma.ph. They may also choose to apply on-line.

Applicants are advised to prepare for the examination covering the areas on Algebra, Geometry, Grammar, Composition, Reading Comprehension, Verbal/Numerical Reasoning and Pattern Analysis.

Those who have not registered on-line or by mail may proceed to the nearest testing center in their area and apply through the walk-in registration. They are advised to bring Form 137, NSO birth certificate and 2 pieces 2x2 ID pictures with white background. (AFP/PIA9)
