OCIGEA Elects New Officers

Oroquieta City – The City’s Employees Association recently held its annual election and elect its new set of officer to manage and led this prestigious organization that looks forward to the welfare of each government employees.

With 500 more or less regular employees voted for the new leaders at the City Hall main building last August 6 hoping that this new leaders will be responsible for all employees. OCIGEA or otherwise known as the Oroquieta City Government Employees Association was formed in 1988 to become an organization of all regular employees and sanction its own rules and regulation to cater to all problems of the city hall employees.

Today, regular city hall employees are composed of different departments of the local government of the city, 24 from the Office of the City Mayor, 5 from the City Budget Office, 8 comes from the City Planning and Development Office.

Other regular members are; 11 from the Sangguniang Panlungsod, 11 from the City Administrator’s Office, 36 from the General Services Office, 49 from the City Treasurer’s Office, 5 from the Local Civil Registrar, 13 from City Assessor’s Office and 29 from the City Accountant’s Office.

Meanwhile, the newly created office, the City Economic and Enterprise Development Office has 37, while the City Health Office who always on the go to maintain health and other medical programs has 37 employees, City Agriculture who had been re-engineered into Agriculture and Fishery Office has 67, and the City Engineers Office has 187 employees that will be responsible for the infrastructure program, maintenance of road and bridges, to conduct and advocate for the environment thru its solid waste programs. All in all more or less 500 members-regular employees is now in a direction for well and healthy responsible government employees with their new chosen leaders.

Last August 6, Salmy R. Abuhon was re-elected as President, Vice president was Renato R. Rollinas Jr, Secretary Diolet Mariam T. Diadula, Treasurer Gay C. Mondoy, Auditor Ryn A DeCastro PIO was Isagani M. Trillo while the peacekeepers were Melchor A. Abellanosa and Manolo D. Soriano.

On its election the Board members who run were 8 of them however, OCIGEA only needs 7 to perform its duties to become the legislative power of the association. Elected were; Jose R. Catalbas Jr, Aida Cecilia F. Caulin, Wilma C. Jumawan, Ernani R. Junio, Jose O Miranda, Guillermo I. Flores and Lester S. Ozarraga. From the 8 candidates only Mr. Jose Lemuel M. Tortola lost.

The OCIGEA will be inducted by City Mayor Jason Paredes Almonte whose new leadership is to have transparent and good governance, with the new set of officers it is hope that the local government will maintain its dignity to serve the people of the City Good Life.
