JTA files HR00241 to urged DepED; Release Funds for Mobod

Congress of the Philippines - Misamis Occidental 1st District Congressman Jorge Taghap Almonte (JTA) recently filed House Resolution No. 00241 urging the Department of Education to release funds for the immediate construction of School Building in Barangay Mobod, this city that was gutted by fire.

It may be recalled that last July 26, 2010, at 2AM, the Mobod Integrated High School with its 6 rooms in the Gabaldon Bldg and another school building was razed by fire cause by an electrical faulty wiring as the Oroquieta City Bureau of Fire Protection reports.

Also gutted by the fire incident were the Faculty Room and the Home Economics Room with a total estimated damage of 3.3 Million Pesos to include teachers workbooks, furniture’s and fixtures, and other personal belongings left behind by the teachers and the studentry.

Mr. Ametanio G. Bualat, School Principal during the last SP session reported the fire incident and request for help.

The Mobod Integrated High School had been a pet project of the former City Mayor, now Congressman Jorge T. Almonte of the 1st District of Misamis Occidental as one of its agenda to promote better, quality and affordable education for Oroquieta City

In Congress, “It is my obligation to file this resolution not as mayor anymore of Oroquieta but a representative of the city which also belong to the district I am representing, and Mobod School is my pet project, thru legislation I will help of course to promote good and quality education, this one of my agenda during those years as a the City Mayor” Almonte said.

Meantime, it was also known that Congressman Almonte who had been a neophyte as a legislator in the halls of congress, he is now busy in filing HB’s and HR’s while studying more on legislation.

It may recalled that in his first days in congress he speak to this journalist in an interviewed, What are his priorities as Congressman, He said that he will study more on legislation, but as of this writing Almonte had filed and passed more HR’s and HB’s and hopes to be passed into a Law for the benefit of his district but also to all the Filipinos who wants a good life.

Congressman Almonte is also the father-author of “Oroquieta, the City of Good Life” during his two terms as the city mayor whose agenda J.O.R.G.E. is his legacy to transparent and good governance.
