Oroquieta City – Late this month, after the Provincial Peace and Order Council that was called by Governor Hermie Ramiro to discuss important matters and a peace the situation between Congressman Leo Loreto Ocampos of the 2nd District and former Ozamis City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog passed a resolution to formally talk about it with the presence of the DILG Secretary Jessie Robredo, Congressman Jorge T, Almonte of the 1st District, the chief of the AFP, and the PNP and the League of Municipalities of Misamis Occidental to settle and achieved reconciliation between the two political rival.
The said meeting was done in the DILG Office, when Governor Ramiro and her group came to pay a courtesy to the secretary to fulfill the plan of reconciliation, however the 2nd District Solon did not came and attend the said meeting.
Accordingly, DILG Secretary Jessie Robredo assured Congressman Jorge T. Almonte and Governor Hermie Ramiro and the group that the secretary will do all necessary action to settle and a peace the two political rivals.
It may be recalled that after 2nd District Congressman Leo Loreto Ocampos of Misamis Occidental pronounced some statement in a national newspaper (Philippine Daily Inquirer dated August 12, 2010) that Ozamis City still troubled and not peaceful due to the still existence of a syndicated crime group allegedly maintain with impunity of the former City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog, not only the people of the city was affected but the whole province of Misamis Occidental.
In an interview with Congressman Jorge T. Almonte, he said that he believes DILG Secretary Robredo to his sincerity, especially when the secretary even made an example of his own political problem during his term as the City Mayor of Naga City that personally he encountered and experienced political rumbles.
Almonte farther said that, even without the 2nd District Congressman, the meeting has fulfilled first step to reconciliation of the two political rivals that affects the whole constituency of Misamis Occidental.
“Yes it affects of what Congressman Ocampos has stated, especially to the people and visitors of Ozamis City and would be investors, but for one, the Misamis Occidental officialdom has initiated a step towards reconciliation” He said.
