A driver was killed while at two others were seriously injured following an ambush on a vice mayor in Lanao del Sur Sunday afternoon.
Radio dzXL on Monday cited belated police reports indicating that the incident occurred at 3:30 p.m. in Pualas town.
Killed on the spot was Abdul Benasing, while those wounded were identified as Ana Tanog and a security aide. Tanog is the wife of Vice Mayor Dianaton Tanog, the report said.
The dzXL report cited information from the Army's 103rd Infantry Brigade identifying one of the four suspects as Oday Sangcopan.
It also said the incident may have stemmed from a "rido" (family feud) involving the Tanog family.
Initial investigation showed the victims had come from Marawi City where they attended a mass oath-taking, when they were ambushed in Damdamun village.
The incident prompted more than 100 families to flee their homes, the same radio report said. — RSJ, GMANews.TV
