Barangay and SK Election 2010 : Six MisOC Towns are in watch list

Oroquieta City- Six towns from the 1^st and 2^nd District of Misamis Occidental are being watch by the COMELEC Joint Coordinating Center on the upcoming Barangay and SK Election as immediate area of concern.

In the recent COMELEC-AFP/PNP-DepED forum held in Rhovics Restaurant here it was gathered that the six towns were: Baliangao, Concepcion, Sapang Dalaga, Don Victoriano, Plaridel and Ozamis City.

COMELEC Regional Director Renato Magbutay who came to attend with PNP Deputy Regional Director Catalino Rodriguez of PNP 10 for Administration and Col Roland Amarille, Bde Commander of the 101^st Army Brigade of the 1^st INF Army Division, PA shared views and messages to the attending Election Officers of the 14 towns of Misamis Occidental and Three cities together with DepED teachers BOC’s, PNP Chief of Police and the 55^th infantry Battalion Command and staff.

In his message, RD Magbutay said that the upcoming Barangay and SK election should not be taken for granted as it is monitored that, this is a positioning of the 2013 local and national election. In the law, the Barangay and SK Election is a non-partisan but for decade now, this election is not practiced as non-partisan.

Accordingly it is more bloody that the local election or the national election. He said.

Meanwhile, the provincial police command said that, the six towns is closely watch and PNP personnel’s are now placed for the coming election which is more less six days from this writing. The barangay and SK election is slated on the 25^th of this month.

PD P/SSupt Robert Quenery in his briefing to the participants said that 56 (11.30%)are closely monitored as they were in the critical condition while 101 (20.11%) of the province Barangays are less critical, however this barangays are now with policemen watching and monitoring closely to achieved a peaceful, responsible and honest election.

Meanwhile, the 55^th INF Battalion Commander, LTC Rey Acorda said that communist terrorist is still there concern, In Misamis Occidental, the AFP is confronted with two sub-fronts, SF “Sendong” and SF “Joji” of the Western Mindanao Revolutionary Party Committee.

In the said meeting, COMELEC-AFP/PNP-DepED Joint Coordinating Committee hopes and pray that the upcoming barangay and SK election will be Honest, Orderly, and Peaceful election.

They are now asking for support and help to all Misamisnons.
