OCPS: Practice makes things perfect!

Oroquieta City – Indeed practice makes anything man wants to be perfect. This is the statement of OIC P/Supt Paciano A. Deloso of the Oroquieta City Police station to this newsweekly.

Amidst lack of equipments, personnel, and even guns and ammunition, the city finest want everything to be in perfect shape and ready to any untoward incidents, manmade or natural the PNP OCPS wants to be able and ready.

After a week of practice on Special Weapons and Tactics, the Oroquieta City Police Station once again practice the “Bus Entry Tactics” were men and women of the PNP Station were taught of how to react during emergency situation like bus hostage taking like to what had happen in Manila recently.

P/Supt Deloso said in an interview that with his experience in Sudan, Africa where he was under the UN Augmentation Force in 1998. Bus Entry Tactics is one organized and swift-ready action of the SWAT Team of the police.

Recently, The OCPS practice the said strategy in the Rural Transit of Mindanao Inc. terminal at Canubay, where three buses of the said bus company was used to practice the action” bus entry tactics”. As mock hostage taking, OCPS Special Weapons and tactics team practice with real passengers, but of course no real hostage taking.

P/Supt Deloso added that with a swift and able-ready police officers running and jumping with its other to position themselves along the windows of the buses, they can penetrate and pinned down hostage takers and free all hostages before death come to them.

“It is hard and impossible to penetrate especially if the bus has passengers, we have to be responsible to what will happen during operations, that is why even though we lack the equipments and we lack personnel’s, we have to practice at our own prerogatives,” He said.

“The Oroquieta City PNP Station has only 28 regular and able-bodied personnel’s but it will be not a reason to be incapable of doing action against any crime and untoward incidents that needs our police operations.” P/Supt Deloso further stressed.

Recalled during the Quirino Grandstand hostage taking, it become a waterloo of the Manila city Crises management, decision had been questioned, police ranking officers and regular force were charged criminally and administratively in what had happen.

Some hostages were freed by the hostage taker, a defunct senior police officer who was eventually killed during the questioned operations and 8ight (8) Hongkong nationals were killed. Even media was not free to be questioned in the hostage taking incident. Who has the responsibility?

he OCPS hoped and prayed that there will never be incidents like the recent hostage taking or any crime incidents that will happen in the city, but they want to be ready at all cost at any given time.
