Feature Commentary:The Boundaries of Opportunity

by Dave Danao, Sidlak Oroquieta

Life's peak depends on how you deal with those chances that create both positive and negative circumstances, which tells who you are on how the way you possess a particular opportunity but tempts you to succumb whatever results that you make at the end of your creativity. The limits of the borderline are already there. Opportunity comes once in a lifetime though, but it's just a matter of crossing the borderline of grabbing something very astonishing and provocative all of the above. Amassing great power for an instance in a rotten 3rd world system, invites everybody to do exactly the same dirty thing that influence every sick minded people allowing them to do a disrespectful act crossing the borderline with the interest of their own opportunity. Environmental scenes pass influence, from one neighborhood to another until it affects the entire nation.

This is how the way opportunity comes and goes, good guys make something good out of it and the bad guys basically create their own disease. Good leaders have patience for a good opportunity, while the bad ones rushes every opportunity to make use of it for the benefit of their own wants and needs, it doesn't matter if they'll step a person's reputation and dignity “ hell I care! “, the same old
vivid reaction of a senseless opportunist. What's so funny about it, is that opportunities are being junked most often than not by those people who deserve it but ignore it every time they get tired of it, while others need it badly but don't get the chance to experience it.

Politics is an opportunity open to create a noble deed, which tells exactly what kind of leader you are from the things that you've done. However, politics is also an opportunity to steal money, abuse its power, and oppress the society. These are the basic opportunities in the world of politics, you can spit wherever you want to spit, “ see no evil or hear evil “ and this is how the way it goes. Some frustrated politicians out there tend to devastate other politicians, just to seek attention from the masses without even looking at theirselves and trying to be clean. Well obviously politicians have smart mouth in nature though, but it's better to have white lies with a lot of proposed projects that have been done for a fact, rather than lying and corrupting the taxes of the people without any projects that have been made for a fact. Which is which? this is the question.

Political history is an idea of the state with a moral and spiritual force beyond the material interests of its subjects in general. But what is happening these days seems far from the structure of the definite origin of politics. I’ve talked to a politician, government employee, and a fisher folk regarding their views about politics despite of its terrible flow, and I came up with some basic simple questions that also educated me with some new political aspects. 1) What are the opportunities in politics? 2) What is the purpose in engaging in politics? 3) How valuable is politics? 4) Why do rich folks are the ones basically engaging in politics? 5) How are politicians sincere with their platform? 6) Are politicians willing to serve the society, as an ordinary citizen without engaging into politics? 7) How can politicians stop the diabolical practice of vote buying and corruption?

A politician told me in an interview, that his purpose in getting into politics is basically for public service, and politics is a valuable tool in serving the people through a different perspective and motivation, through his financial capability he is capable of engaging into it, and through his sincerest platform that have been accomplished from its factual results and his present platform that he is implementing. He added, that he has been serving the people ever since he was still engaging into public information service and that transformation of its political system and moral recovery are the most important functions in serving the society and its city, eventually vote buying and corruption can be cured slowly by slowly even though it’s a trend these days. A government employee also shared to me his views about politics in an interview again, that public service again in general is the most basic opportunity in politics a politician could do. And he also added, that the achieved desire of a politician’s program is the purpose a politician engages into politics, and it depends to his desire how valuable politics is, and through his capacity, freedom, education, and what he gets paid for are the measures of his platform on how the way he serves the society and the city, while vote buying and corruption don’t exist if a politician is sincere to his vision and service, he added again.

Lastly was the fisherfolk’s point of view. He stressed his perception that siding with a politician these days is the most basic way an ordinary person can have a job. A politician who doesn’t have money wants to have money, while the rich politician wants to amass power and fame. He also added, that financial capability is the reason why politician engages into politics, however sincerity of a politician’s platform depends on its factual results, and basically a politician these days can’t get rid of politics through serving the society and its city as an ordinary citizen because of money and power, and vote buying and corruption are like Christmas lanterns usually being made during the Christmas season just like during election day.

As I have measured the different political views from the people that I have talked to despite of their different status in the society, I have never met a definite connection from their answers that could change the status quo of the political system that we have. However, the boundaries of opportunity in the world of politics lie in a noble heart of a good leader like Mayor Jorge T. Almonte. On the other hand, some political mercenaries and turncoats here in Oroquieta City, often bluff on the radio basically for a living and brain wash the people to turn into their favored politician without thinking their shameful political immature ways. Well, someday they’ll realize and pay for what they’re doing.

It’s your choice to pick the right leaders this coming May 10th 2010 election. Just be very careful if you’ll pick the evil ones, the boundaries of opportunity are like a curse that flows for years and you’ll never notice that it’s your regretful tears that will haunt you for the rest of your miserable lives…The choice is yours!
