Oroquieta City – Pursuant to Executive Order 137 dated August 10, 1999, the wholeprovince of Misamis Occidental under the leadership of Lady Governor Hermie Ramiro will be celebratin the National Disaster Consciousness Month with this year’s theme: “Makialam, makiisa, Sa pagsugpo sa panganib may Maitutulong Ka”.
In relation to to R.A. 10121 or the Disaster Risk Reducation and Management Law, Governor Ramiro tasked every local Government Units to follow and implement the creation of a City and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (DRRMC) to be chaired by the chief executives to fight and be ready against any manmade or natural disasters.
The Lady governor farther stressed that with the creation of DRRMC’s people should not forget that one in the highest is the real protector of all to what the people are doing and should do for self-preservation.
Meanwhile, The Misamis Occidental PNP Provincial Office under P/SSupt Robert Quenery, PESE had been in coordination with all LGU’s for any possible response to any natural or man\made disasters.
In related month celebrations, Misamis Occidental is also enjoining allcommunity to celebrate the month long Nutrition Month whose theme now focused on breatfeeding. “Isulong ang Breast feeding, Tama, Sapat at Ekslusibo.
In Oroquieta City, the Committee on health of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, City Councilor Jeselie Centino-Borbopn in an interview confirms that the City’s Nutrition Council in close coordination with the City Health Office is now contemplating for possible events and activities to include Baby Health contest and Pregnant Women Contest to promote health care and good nutrition.
City Councilor Borbon also cited the coming back of Oro H Fit or the Oroquieta Health Fitness Program by initiating a weekly ”Hataw” exercise with the city employees every Friday and for the community on Thursdays, and Saturdays.
