The Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental affirms and supports our Constitutional mandate which states, “The State shall promote physical education and encourage sports program, league competitions, and amateur sports including training for international competitions, to foster self-discipline, teamwork and excellence for the development of a healthy and alert citizenry”. (Art. 14, Sec 19, Philippine Constitution).
The First Lady Governor Herminia M. Ramiro graciously welcomed guests, participants and employees-athletes to the recently held opening program of the 2011 PGMO Sports Fest last June 6, 2011 at the Provincial Cultural and farmer’s training Center.
The said sports fest will be the start of a six month long athletic marathon which will culminate on November during the Pas’ungko Festival in celebration of the provincial Founding Anniversary.
The PGMO employees are divided into different teams composed of the Navy Blue Executives from the governor’s Office, Planning, Budget, Provincial Jail, Drug rehab, Tourism, Library, Gender and Human Resources offices.
Maroon Builders were from General Services, PEO and Fire protection Offices while the Yellow Financiers were from the Assessor’s, Social Welfare, the Treasury, Accounting Internal Audit, COA and Cooperative Offices.
The Green Food Producers is composed of employees from the provincial Agriculture Office, Economic Enterprise and Research, Veterinary, MOAP, Hoyohoy, ENRO Agrarian Reform, BAS and Trade Offices. While the White Life Savers is composed of the IPHO and the province operated District Hospitals and the PNRC.
Other teams like the Red Peace Makers is from the PNP MisOCC PPO, DILG, NCIP, ROD and provincial COMELEC stalwarts. The Sky Blue Missioners are from the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, DepED, RTC, TESDA, Parole and Probation, DOST and BJMP. And the 8th team is the Orange Prime Movers belongs t the DPWH, LTO, NIA, CSC, League of barangays, Transportation and Franchising Offices.
Each team will be competing against each other on games such as Badminton, Basketball, Volleyball, Kick Softball, and Table Tennis. Each team will be vying for championship prizes to be awarded during the Pas’ungko Festival 2011 on November.
“With Healthy Body and Healthy Mind thru sportsmanship and camaraderie, the Provincial Government employees are and can be effective to deliver its work, mission and goals of a good and professional Public Service” Gov Ramiro stated.
