Ozamiz LTO Chief shot dead

Ozamiz City – The Ozamiz City Police Office is now investigating the killing of a Land Transportation Office Chief assigned in the city that was killed , last June 8, while the victim was preparing for Tennis play at the City Engineers Compound.

In the police report, LTO Officer II Dimatipos Banggan y Muli, 57 years old, a residence of Turtle Island, Tinago, this city while preparing for a tennis match at the City Engineers Compound June 8, 2011, two suspects end his life with a caliber 45 pistol and walks casually towards their gate-away vehicle a Yamaha Single MC color Black with Plate Number 9042.

Accordingly, one of the suspects armed with a caliber .45 pistol approach the victim casually and pump three bullets as three empty spent shells were found in the crime scene, hitting the victim on his breast portion and arm that causes instantaneous death and immediately left with a companion waiting as back up and accomplice in their gate away vehicle and sped away towards an undisclosed place.

P/SSupt Gervacio Balmaceda, Ozamiz City PNP Chief immediately dispatches his investigating and intelligence team to look for possible angles and probable cause of the killing of the LTO Officer and cause the arrest of the suspects.

It may be recalled that this is not the first time that said government agency encountered problems concerning their employee’s attitudes in the work and influence of which some of them were killed, be it personal or work related issues or family trouble like “Rido” where in the victim was a Maranao.

Meanwhile, P/SSupt Robert Quenery, PESE Provincial Director of Misamis Occidental PNP Provincial Office has ordered his intelligence and investigation units to help the Ozamiz City PNP Police Office in the investigation and file criminal case against the two suspects who are now at large.

CEEDO earned Php3.6 M for five months operations

Oroquieta City – Good news is good news. The City Economic Enterprise and Development Office (CEEDO) has earned P3.5 Million pesos in a report submitted to the Office of the City Mayor for its 5 months operation.

The City Economic Enterprise and Development Office was created by then former City Mayor Jorge T. Almonte now people’s representative of the first district to foster and fast track city tax collection and developed projects that will focus in the city economy.

As of May this year, said office has earned Php 3,612,895.00 from business income from the Public Market amounted to Php2, 507,573.22, Slaughter House amounted to 505,425.34, Land Transport amounted 195,578.00, Fish Port in the amount of 367,780.92 and City Gym worth 36,530.00 not to mention the total tax collected from the new Integrated Bus and Jeepney Terminal at the 95% finished Oroquieta City Town Center in Barangay Canubay.

Mr. Carlito “Bebot” Decena, CEEDO Head said that if compare to last year’s income, the 2011 tax income collected has increased to 15 percent. “This will certainly increase because of the new administration adopted scheme especially our one stop shop effort to collect business tax and the plan of the city government to plan scheduled date of collection and the operation of the OCTC” He said.

It may be recalled that with the establishment of the CEEDO modern computerization program is now adopted to fast track collection and data gathering is now on its process. With the newly approved City Ordinance establishing the City Business Assistance Center (OCBAC) the two offices will be fully used to inform and assist new investors in their needs like business permits, and other pertinent papers to build their branches or new business establishment.

Meanwhile, City Councilor Vincent Guantero who chaired the SP Committee on Trade and Industry in an interview said that with the OCBAC, investors needs especially on their business permits and other needs will be assisted, not only assisting new investors but to promote the city economic programs and a database will be established to answer questions and other information’s needed by an investors.

Meantime, City Mayor Jason Paredes Almonte expressed sincere thanks to CEEDO and the Sangguniang Panlungsod headed by City Vice Mayor Harry Guantero in projecting economic stability thru legislation to b implemented soon.

“Like the newly approved City Ordinance that will create the Oroquieta City Business Assistance Center (OCBAC) of which we will be establishing and be operational in the newly constructed and about to finish Oroquieta City Town Center can be of great help and assistance not only to new investors but to establish linkages and to disseminate business information’s about the city economic situations” he said.

PGMO Sports Fest 2011 Opened

The Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental affirms and supports our Constitutional mandate which states, “The State shall promote physical education and encourage sports program, league competitions, and amateur sports including training for international competitions, to foster self-discipline, teamwork and excellence for the development of a healthy and alert citizenry”. (Art. 14, Sec 19, Philippine Constitution).

The First Lady Governor Herminia M. Ramiro graciously welcomed guests, participants and employees-athletes to the recently held opening program of the 2011 PGMO Sports Fest last June 6, 2011 at the Provincial Cultural and farmer’s training Center.

The said sports fest will be the start of a six month long athletic marathon which will culminate on November during the Pas’ungko Festival in celebration of the provincial Founding Anniversary.

The PGMO employees are divided into different teams composed of the Navy Blue Executives from the governor’s Office, Planning, Budget, Provincial Jail, Drug rehab, Tourism, Library, Gender and Human Resources offices.

Maroon Builders were from General Services, PEO and Fire protection Offices while the Yellow Financiers were from the Assessor’s, Social Welfare, the Treasury, Accounting Internal Audit, COA and Cooperative Offices.

The Green Food Producers is composed of employees from the provincial Agriculture Office, Economic Enterprise and Research, Veterinary, MOAP, Hoyohoy, ENRO Agrarian Reform, BAS and Trade Offices. While the White Life Savers is composed of the IPHO and the province operated District Hospitals and the PNRC.

Other teams like the Red Peace Makers is from the PNP MisOCC PPO, DILG, NCIP, ROD and provincial COMELEC stalwarts. The Sky Blue Missioners are from the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, DepED, RTC, TESDA, Parole and Probation, DOST and BJMP. And the 8th team is the Orange Prime Movers belongs t the DPWH, LTO, NIA, CSC, League of barangays, Transportation and Franchising Offices.

Each team will be competing against each other on games such as Badminton, Basketball, Volleyball, Kick Softball, and Table Tennis. Each team will be vying for championship prizes to be awarded during the Pas’ungko Festival 2011 on November.

“With Healthy Body and Healthy Mind thru sportsmanship and camaraderie, the Provincial Government employees are and can be effective to deliver its work, mission and goals of a good and professional Public Service” Gov Ramiro stated.

SFRA, 101ST BDE, 1st ID, AFP-PA, Condor project launch, Is Zamboanga Peninsula really Safe?

With this new fighting machines, the question is, Is it the end of this miseries, does Mindanaoan’s can be assured that with this new equipments, Threat Groups and other Criminal Groups can now be controlled and put to justice? Is Zamboanga Peninsula really safe from this criminals?

This week, with the presence and attendance of the Commanding General of the Philippine Army, Lt. General Arturo B Ortiz, AFP who initiated and named after his codename in his military career “CONDOR” the Army’s Watercraft Project is launched to thwart any attempt of the longtime Mindanao’s enemy number one, Criminal and Terrorist elements who uses the water in escaping and using as means of entrance to any point of the island to make havoc and fear to each and every community.

“With a less expensive equipments made from our own indigenous materials but effective and fully armed sea crafts with experience Riverine Unit of the AFP Special Forces, this will keep our campaign against these lawless elements more strong than ever.” Lt Gen Ortiz said.

“This will surely help our efforts especially peace and order of the entire Peninsula to include Basilan Islands of which is our concern also, and the 1st INF DIV operating in Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga Norte, Zamboanga de Sur and nearby coastal provinces and towns of the island of Mindanao,” CG,1ID,PA Noel Coballes said.

CONDOR 3 Project composes three (3) mother boats and ten (10) scout boats with a speed of more or less 42 knots to be manned by Special Forces Teams armed with modern and crossive weapons to counter any attacks and can maneuver to any point of destination along all coastlies and seas of the peninsula.

The Special Forces Riverine Units has the capability to employ watercrafts with limited waterborne operations such as sea blocked, sea interdiction, and other operations specific to Special Forces operations, this started in 1970’s when secessionist movement has blown up.

CONDOR Project started this September 2010, and the first (CONDOR 1)was operated on November 10 and establish in Basilan, the second (CONDOR 2) was in March 13,2011 to operate in Zamboanga Sibugay which ultimately successful against a certain Commander Kamsa and his group and this week, May 19 ,2011 CONDOR 3 was launch in Dapitan City to be responsible in the Zamboanga del Norte Area. Col Undug added.

Meanwhile, Governor Rolando Yebes of Zamboanga del Norte who witness the launching together with other officials of Dipolog and Dapitan Cities welcome the development and heart fully thanks the Armed Forces for a well planned action with equipments and commitment to campaign against all lawless elements that uses the water and the seas to make their moves.
