By Teofilo P. Garcia

Pagadian City - Unidentified men abducted a 10-year old boy and his mother in Zamboanga del Sur Saturday evening, a police official disclosed Monday.

Supt. Jose Bayani Gucela, Zamboanga Peninsula Police Office (ZPPO) spokesman, said Ceekim Gomonit, 10, and his mother Babeth Gomonit, 55, were abducted in Barangay San Jose, Pagadian City, the capital of Zamboanga del Sur province, at about 11:45 p.m. Saturday.

Gucela said the victims were asleep when the suspects, one of whom is a woman, barged into their house and hogtied all of the occupants before fleeing, taking with them the two captives.

The boy and his grandmother were forced to board the family-owned vehicle, a blue Isuzu trooper (KBG-711) and fled to unknown direction, Gucela said.

He said Pagadian City police, led by Chief Insp. Michael Palermo, in coordination with the military were exerting efforts to establish the whereabouts of the victims.

He said the suspects, whose identities remain unknown, have not yet contacted the victims’ family nor made any demand in exchange for the release of the victims.

He said the Pagadian City police have also intensified intelligence operations to locate the victims. (PNA/PIA9-BST)
